Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil has written to Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, making it clear that the State government is keen on allotting 100 acres of land in Mandya district to the U.S.-based semiconductor fabrication company Sanson Group for establishing a manufacturing unit. However, despite repeated efforts, senior officials of the company could not be reached regarding the proposal. In a release, Mr. Patil said Mr. Kumaraswamy had written to the State government on October 31 regarding the matter, to which a positive response was sent on November 24. “Meanwhile several attempts have been made to contact Sanson Group’s Chief Technology Officer and Head of Indian Operations, Abhay K. Rai, to seek further details of the proposed project. However, there has been no response from his side so far,” Mr. Patil saidHe said there was no hurdle to allotting 100 acres of land to the company in Mandya district at a location with adequate water supply, power, and connectivity. He added that if a formal request was received from the company, the feasibility of land allotment, along with the required approvals and infrastructure support, would be examined and the proposal would be taken forward expeditiously. The responsibility for coordinating the process had been entrusted to Commissioner of the Karnataka Industries Department Gunjan Krishna, he said.
